Safewalk

Macalester’s SAFEwalk program helps students, staff, and faculty walk in safety at night — but people are often hesitant to make that initial call. This app allows students to easily and discretely contact SAFEwalk with a tap, no call necessary. The app can send a GPS position, or allow students to manually select a building on campus.

On the SAFEwalk side, a web interface shows locations of people who are waiting. Members of the SAFEwalk team can change their status — available, out on a walk, or closed — and the app instantly reflects the status change.
